Alabama Land Trust, Inc., Georgia Land Trust, Inc., and The Chattowah Open Land Trust, Inc. are nonprofit 501(c)(3) conservation organizations dedicated to protecting land for present and future generations by helping private landowners protect land, primarily through conservation easements. Conservation easements are voluntary agreements between the land trusts and landowners whereby the landowner permanently protects the conservation values of the land, potentially resulting in significant income and other tax savings for the landowner. Together, Alabama Land Trust, Georgia Land Trust, and founding organization The Chattowah Open Land Trust have safeguarded more than 200,000 acres of private land with more than 600 conservation easements, mostly in Georgia and Alabama, and combine to be a leader in land protection in the southeast.
